This year marks the 45th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Most commonly known as Jazz Fest, the music festival spans over two weekends in New Orleans and is a true testament to the city’s spirit and culture.
Much can be said about the festival’s success with this year being such a huge milestone. Every year Jazz Fest has anywhere from 400,000 to 650,000 people show up at the New Orleans Fair Grounds.
At the first Jazz Fest in 1970 Mahalia Jackson and Duke Ellington, two of the words greatest jazz artists, led the crowd in a second-line throughout the festival. This spirit of spontaneous joy can still be felt throughout the festival.

This year’s lineup includes headliners Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Christiana Aguilera, The Avett Brothers, Robin Thicke, Foster The People, Alabama Shakes and many more.
The festival also prides itself in showcasing many local artists. Some of these artists include Irma Thomas, Rebirth Brass Band, Better Than Ezra and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.
