I recently read an article about women in the field of public relations titled “12 Reasons PR Girls Are Going To Take Over The World.” After reading the article in its entirety I have to say I have not read something more accurate about my chosen career path.
Women in public relations are fierce, competitive, tech savvy, independent and determined. And those are just to name a few of our strongest qualities.
Despite everything women have accomplished in the professional world we are still not treated with the same respect as men. It just baffles my mind that I live in a society that has overcome so much diversity that this is still an issue.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel for professional women. Discrimination in the work place may be the case for women in some industries, but this does not apply to the public relations field.
Even as I look around my public relations classes I see that most of them have a ratio of one man to every three or four women depending on the size of the class. This number alone shows that women are the dominant group in the field of public relations.
In an industry that runs off of connections, networking and relationship building it is no wonder that women are primarily successful.
I hope to see more articles like this throughout my career. Because of it I am inspired to succeed so that I can help future generations of strong women make their way in a mans world.
